Editorial & Publications Lead Our Editorial & Publications Lead is the heart behind every word in the Fit 4 Change magazine. This role brings together a community of young writers, storytellers, and contributors — guiding each edition from concept to publication with care, creativity, and a deep commitment to authentic youth voices. This is a volunteer, remote position, and it is our intention to transition this role to a paid position as funding is secured. ABOUT FIT 4 CHANGE COLLECTIVE

Fit 4 Change Collective is a youth-led, community-driven Australian social enterprise built on lived experience. Our youth-produced magazine creates space for honest conversations, lived experiences, and perspectives that are too often unheard. It is not about speaking for young people — it is about handing them the microphone.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Editorial & Publications Lead oversees the production of Fit 4 Change Collective's flagship youth magazine, ensuring it remains a high-quality, youth-centred publication that amplifies authentic voices. This role leads the editorial process from concept through to publication, working closely with young contributors and the Creative & Production Lead.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the end-to-end editorial process for each magazine edition, including ideation, commissioning, editing, and final review

  • Recruit, support, and mentor young writers, journalists, and contributors from across Australia

  • Develop and maintain editorial guidelines, style guides, and submission processes that are accessible to young contributors

  • Review and edit all submitted content with a trauma-informed and youth-centred lens

  • Manage editorial timelines and coordinate with the Creative & Production Lead to ensure on-schedule delivery

  • Curate thematic editions that reflect contemporary youth experiences and mental health conversations

  • Engage the wider community to source diverse voices, perspectives, and stories

  • Maintain the standard of the publication as a credible platform for youth expression

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience in editorial, journalism, publishing, or communications

  • Strong editing, proofreading, and writing skills

  • Experience working with or supporting young people in creative or media production environments

  • Trauma-informed approach to storytelling and content creation

  • Ability to manage multiple contributors and deadlines in a remote setting

  • Passion for amplifying youth voices and advancing youth mental health awareness

TIME COMMITMENT & REMUNERATION

Approximately 5–8 hours per week, though time commitment may vary and will increase during publication production periods. This is a fully remote, volunteer position. It is the intention of Fit 4 Change Collective that this role will transition to a paid position as funding is secured.
